If you live in St. Petersburg and your child is struggling with sensory processing challenges, speech and language delays, emotional regulation challenges, feeding difficulties, motor skills delays, or learning challenges, Sense Able Brain may be worth the drive up I-275 to Lutz.
Many St. Pete and Pinellas County families come to us after realizing that conventional therapy has helped some, but has not gone deep enough to explain why their child is still struggling. Our pediatric occupational therapy and speech therapy team uses a whole-child, neurodevelopmental approach to look underneath the surface and build the foundations your child needs for progress that carries over into daily life.
St. Pete Parents Are Asking Bigger Questions. So Are We.
St. Pete parents are often thoughtful, informed, and already asking good questions. You may have read about sensory processing, primitive reflexes, neurodevelopment, autism, gestalt language processing, nervous system regulation, or the connection between the body and learning. You may have already completed evaluations, tried school-based services, or worked with another provider and still felt like something important was missing.
We understand that feeling. Parents often know when their child is capable of more, even if they do not yet know what is getting in the way. At Sense Able Brain, we do not reduce your child to a diagnosis, a behavior, or a checklist. We look at the whole child: the nervous system, body, movement, sensory processing, communication, feeding, learning, and family routines. That is the gap our practice was built to help close.
Neurodevelopmental Therapy That Goes Beyond Conventional Therapy
Our approach is not the standard OT or speech therapy with a few extra tools added on. We use our A.B.L.E. framework – Activate, Balance, Link, Engage – to help children build the sensory, motor, communication, and regulation foundations that support real-life progress.
For some children, that means Occupational Therapy for sensory processing, coordination, fine motor skills, posture, attention, and emotional regulation. For others, it means Speech Therapy for articulation, language development, reading-related skills, gestalt language processing, or communication support. When it fits your child, we may also use the Safe & Sound Protocol, QRI Laser Light Therapy, primitive reflex integration, bodywork, feeding therapy, or Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) as part of the bigger plan.
For non-speaking or minimally verbal children, AAC can give your child a dependable way to be understood while speech and language continue to develop. For gestalt language processors, we support the way your child actually learns language instead of forcing them into a model that does not fit. Everything is connected back to the same goal: helping your child regulate, communicate, move, learn, and participate more fully in everyday life.
You’ve Done the Research. Now Meet the Therapy That Matches.
If you have been researching sensory processing disorder, primitive reflex integration, retained reflexes, regulation, feeding challenges, gestalt language processing, AAC, or the Safe & Sound Protocol, you are probably not looking for basic therapy advice. You are looking for someone who can help you connect the dots.
That is what we do. We look at the whole child: their nervous system, sensory world, movement patterns, communication style, oral-motor development, feeding, learning readiness, and family routines. A child who cannot regulate cannot fully access learning. A child whose body does not feel organized may struggle to sit, write, speak, eat, listen, or follow directions. A child who cannot communicate reliably may show you their frustration through behavior.
We do not expect parents to figure all of this out on their own. We help you understand what is happening, what matters most, and what to do at home for your child.
